The Home Folder service enables creation of a network folder, in which files of any type may be stored on Windows and macOS.
Any Institute user may register for the service via his or her user ID, given that registration is approved by the departmental administrator. Once registration is completed (by the administrator), a network folder is created automatically, and full read and write privileges are granted to the user (and to the user alone) for each file or other content stored in the folder.
Note that the personal network folder may not be shared with other users.
All files stored in the Home Folder are automatically backed up every night by the TSM backup system, and deleted files are retained for a period of 18 months from the moment of deletion.
If and when required, files and/or folders may be restored by submitting a request at https://IT.weizmann.ac.il.
Service charges apply on a per-actual usage basis. For further information on the charges associated with this service, review the computing charges page.

Notes
Network folder file backups are retained as long as their original source files exist. Once a file is deleted from the server, an 18-month data retention countdown commences. When the 18-month retention period expires, the file is deleted from backup, too.
The default storage space allocated is one gigabyte. If required, a request may be submitted with departmental administrators to expand the storage space provided.
