Putting their brains together

Date: Wednesday, September 11, 2024

Weizmann France is pleased to announce a new collaboration between the Weizmann Institute of Science and Paris Brain Institute (ICM).

Weizmann Vice President Prof. Ziv Reich and the Executive Director of Paris Brain Institute Prof. Alexis Brice each signed a memorandum of understanding in June 2024, to establish a series of neuroscience research partnerships between sets of investigators from both institutions.

Located in Paris, at the heart of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital—the largest neurology center in Europe— ICM brings together patients, doctors, and scientists with the aim of accelerating the development of treatments for neurological diseases and disorders and enabling patients to benefit from these advances as quickly as possible. The combination of ICM’s clinical expertise and research focus with the innovative, multidisciplinary approach of Weizmann’s neuroscience flagship, the Azrieli Institute for Brain and Neural Sciences, promises to herald significant biomedical advances for patients and their families worldwide.

The collaboration entails the exchange of doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows, visits of both new and veteran scientists, meetings and workshops on specific research topics, co-applications to international funding bodies, and other activities that serve to strengthen the collaboration between both institutions.

“The partnership between our two research institutes indicates a new era of innovation and scientific collaboration, promising significant advancements for the future of research and development in neurosciences,” says David Weizmann, Executive Director of Weizmann France.
