Prof. Omer Yaffe

Prof. Omer Yaffe

Principal Investigator

Prof. Yaffe obtained a dual B.Sc. in chemistry and chemical engineering at Ben Gurion University in 2005.
He then completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Materials and Interfaces at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2012, working with Prof. David Cahen.
From 2013 to 2016, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Louis Brus and Prof. Tony Heinz in the Columbia University, Energy Frontier Research Center.

Dr. Matan Menahem

Dr. Matan Menahem

Assistant Staff Scientist

Matan is a senior intern in the group, specializing in the design and development of optical systems. He earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 2016. He later completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in this group in 2022. His Ph.D. research focused on the structural dynamics of disordered crystals and their manifestation in inelastic scattering spectra. In his spare time, Matan enjoys watching football matches with a cold beer or a glass of single-malt whiskey.

Adi Cohen

Adi Cohen

PhD student

Adi is a student in the direct Ph.D. track program. She had her B.Sc in Chemistry at Bar-Ilan University and her M.Sc. in this group. She started her research studying the biocrystallization mechanism of amorphous calcium carbonate, collaborating with Assaf Gal from the biology department. Her M.Sc and Ph.D. projects focus on the lattice dynamics of perovskites. Adi is from Kiryat-Ono, and in her free time, she likes to study and teach Torah and work on her slogan for the 34th elections.

Maya Levy Greenberg

Maya Levy Greenberg

PhD student

Maya is a Ph.D. student investigating polarons in perovskite semiconductors using time-resolved Raman spectroscopy. She earned her B.Sc. in Materials Engineering and Chemistry from Tel Aviv University and completed her M.Sc. under Prof. Ernesto Joselevich at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Maya lives in Hazerim, has three children, and looks forward to the day they are old enough to play tennis together.

Noam Lusthaus

Noam Lusthaus

PhD student

Noam has graduated with a dual BSc in chemistry and chemical engineering, and an MSc in chemical engineering at Ben Gurion University.
He's currently studying the photon statistics of spontaneous Raman scattering as part of his PhD.
Noam lives in Rehovot and loves cooking, baking, and traveling around the world.

Noam Pinsk

Noam Pinsk

PhD student

Noam is a PhD student studying the dynamics of hydrogen bonding in molecular crystals. She participated in the joint honors program for BSc in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. During her Bachelor's studies, Noam participated in organic biomineralization research, finding the composition of optically functional biogenic guanine crystals (from fish, spiders, scallops, etc.). Noam lives in Rehovot, plays the Saxophone for fun, and always enjoys a hike, a trip to the beach and/or a cold beer.

Guy Reuveni

Guy Reuveni

PhD student

Guy obtained a dual B.Sc. in chemical engineering and chemistry at Ben-Gurion University and an M.Sc. in this group. In his Ph.D., he is studying how excited charge carriers affect the lattice vibrations in semiconductors. He is developing a novel time-resolved, spontaneous Raman scattering apparatus that is sensitive to structural distortions due to an electronic excitation. Guy lives in Rehovot, adequately follows F1, and wishes he had more time to hike.

Yarden Arad

Yarden Arad

Msc student

Yarden is an M.Sc. student investigating Chalcogenide perovskite BaZrS3, mainly the electron-phonon dynamics using time-resolved photoluminescence and Raman. She obtained a B.Sc. in chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Yarden lives in Rehovot, the proud owner of a cute Jack Russell dog and a Munchkin cat, and likes photography, hiking, and the beach; of course, a combination of all is best.
