The AutoGene computer system implements automatic "conveyer" analysis of a sequence by many single research programs. The set of programs now includes routines for complex analysis of nucleotide sequences: detecting Alu and LINE elements; similarity search over nucleotide and amino acid sequence databases; revealing FIS; predicting promoter regions, exons, and polyadenylation sites. The system envisages a flexible research scenario and a convenient display of the output for several programs at once. With the AutoGene system the region of BRCA-II was analysed and a data base of computer-revealed functional sites was built.
