Targeting and sensing cell surface proteins
Cell surface proteins (CSPs) are an important class of disease biomarkers and represent a key category of drug targets. Building on our previous work in developing turn-on probes for protein detection, we are advancing novel CSP-targeting probes for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications. For instance, we have created probes that detect changes in bacterial CSP expression levels and designed turn-on probes to sense CSP-ligand interactions, which we are using in high-throughput screening (HTS) assays to find novel agonists or antagonists. Furthermore, this ongoing research has led to the development of new methods for delivering DNA or enzyme-based therapeutics into cancer cells.
