Large area imaging

Method Specification

High throughput SEM and large samples (millimeters and more) imaging are quite limited and usually are not applicable for high resolution imaging. Software solutions for automated acquisition can be used to overcome the challenge. The Quattro S ESEM (Thermo Fisher Scientific) is equipped with MAPS software for automated acquisition of high-resolution images from large areas, thus enabling high throughput and identification of rare/specific sites of interest within a wide landscape (Fig. 1). The Sigma 500 (Zeiss) and the Ultra 55 (Zeiss) can also produce large-area images by using the Bruker Jobs software. The software solutions can scan frame by frame at different magnifications and pixel sizes and then stitch them all together for a large mosaic image. Large area imaging can be performed using the different detectors and low vacuum mode.
