Day trip to HaShofet stream and Bet She'arim

Join us for a hike along the shady green trail of HaShofet stream and visit Bet She'arim, which offers a unique window into ancient Jewish burial customs, art, and inscriptions.

Itinerary

08:00     Departure from the parking bay in front of David Lopatie Conference Center

09:30     Hike along HaShofet Stream - including breakfast break

Tucked away in the heart of the Ramat Menashe Forest Reserve is a beautiful waterfall and stream called Nahal Hashofet. The stream flows through Ramat Menashe and the Jezreel Valley.

We will walk for about 2 hours along a meandering, accessible, shaded path with spots to dip in the water (optional). The route is made of asphalt, wooden boards, and bridges and is suitable for families with small children and strollers.

12:00     Travel to Tel Megiddo

12:30    Tour of Bet She'arim - including lunch break

Bet She'arim necropolis (Hebrew: בֵּית שְׁעָרִים, "House of Gates") is an extensive necropolis of rock-cut tombs near the remains of the ancient Jewish town of Bet She'arim.
The partially excavated archaeological site consists of the tombs and some remains of the town itself. 
In 2015, the necropolis was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

15:30 End of tour and travel back to Weizmann

17:00 Anticipated return to Weizmann

  • Clothes and shoes comfortable for hiking
  •  A change of clothes if you wish to dip in the water
  • Food - Breakfast, lunch & snacks
  • Water 2L 
  • Hat & Sunscreen

Children: If you register a child, you are responsible for bringing a suitable safety seat for the bus, as required by law (until the age of 8). Without a suitable seat, they will not be permitted to board the bus.

Cancellations: cancellations 3 days or less before trip departure will not be refunded.
