A call for courage in academic leadership

“I have been building things for as long as I can remember myself,” says Dan Gelbart, a German-born, Israel-raised, and―since 1973―Canada-based inventor.

“Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.”

The worldwide partners associated with Frontiers of the Universe project reflect the scope and enormous potential of this ambitious and multidisciplinary initiative. 

Weizmann scientists have uncovered extensive below-ground networks formed between trees, fungi, and bacteria, which provide each species with the nutrients they need to thrive. 

Since October 7, the Weizmann community, alongside all of Israel, has faced a new, complex reality. Our research presses on, though our lives are forever changed; our faculty and students continue to lead scientific discovery, while many also serve on the front lines. We are deeply proud of our country and community, and we mourn for the victims and long for the hostages. Despite these hardships, our resilience and unity are resolute, and our commitment to pursuing exceptional science for the future welfare of humanity remains steadfast.
