In June, Weizmann Canada hosted Dr. Ivo Spiegel from the Department of Neurobiology. Dr. Spiegel’s research looks into the age-old quandary in brain science of nature versus nurture.
a Toronto event, Dr. Spiegel was joined by Dr. Norman Doidge, and guests learned how foundational research such as that done by Dr. Spiegel at the molecular level can lead to real-world implications through the work of psychiatrists like Dr. Doidge. In Montreal, guests heard from both Dr. Spiegel and Susan Wener, who spoke about her personal stories of challenges and triumphs. This evening was graciously hosted by Susan and her husband Jonathan.
A special thank you to Dr. Daniel C. Andreae, the eloquent moderator for both evenings. Dr. Andreae is a staunch supporter of the Weizmann Institute, and specifically of Dr. Spiegel’s research. Dr. Spiegel’s lab was recently renamed the Dr. Daniel C. Andreae Laboratory for Brain Research and inaugurated at the 2017 Annual General Meeting of the International Board in November.
