About Bina
We are Bina, the new translational science unit at the Weizmann Institute
Bina was founded in early 2021 by the Vice President of innovation and Technology Transfer. It was created as a scientific unit to bridge the gap between the scientific activities conducted at the Weizmann Institute and the commercial activity performed by Yeda. The Weizmann Institute is a world leader in academic research at the forefront of scientific knowledge, with great potential for producing advancements in technology; Bina was created to bring that potential to fulfillment.
Our values
The Weizmann Innovation Ecosystem
The Weizmann Institute innovation ecosystem helps transform basic science research into patented products and technologies that benefit humanity
The innovation ecosystem comprises three separate but interrelated units within the Institute: Bina, Yeda, and WIn. Together, they leverage basic research breakthroughs from the Weizmann Institute’s world-renowned labs. Bina guides translational projects toward a proof of concept; Yeda protects intellectual property (IP) based on lab discoveries and licenses it to companies; and WIn is an incubator that helps technological teams grow into viable commercial entities. Based on Weizmann’s IP, more than 110 spinoff companies have been founded.
