The kitchen staff are an integral part of each daycare center, where they prepare rich and varied meals for the children. The children get to know the staff well and through them, learn about the importance of a healthy diet and the love for cooking.
All of the meals prepared and served to the children are approved by a certified nutritionist and meet high-quality standards of the Ministry of Health.

The Kindergarten Support Program is a dedicated support system for daycare centers and kindergartens, aimed at assisting the educational staff on issues related to motor, sensory, verbal and emotional development. The Kindergarten Support team consists of psychologists, occupational therapists, speech–language pathologists, educational counselors and emotional therapists. The team works in collaboration with the kindergarten teachers and caregivers to identify, develop and integrate children with developmental delays into the kindergarten.

Kindergarten Support Objectives

• Identify children with difficulties and plan internal kindergarten intervention at the individual and/or group level, and refer children, if necessary (via the parents), to local health and welfare professionals, and monitor their progress.
• Assist kindergarten teachers in adapting work methods for children with difficulties, in accordance with their developmental stage, difficulties, abilities and personality traits.
• Encourage and assist kindergarten teachers in contacting local health and welfare services and establish ongoing cooperation and collaboration. 

WIZO is an international organization with cumulative experience of over 90 years in the education and care of children in early childhood and daycare centers. 
The daycare centers at the Weizmann Institute are operated and supervised by the organization in accordance with the highest educational standards.

The Steering Committee holds the highest authority and decides on matters concerning the operation and management of the daycare centers. 

The committee is chaired by DR. Ruth Shouval. Committee members include representatives from the scientific sector who are responsible for various fields –  Dr. David Zeevi, Head of Daycare Registration Committee, Dr. Yuval Ronen, responsible for building and maintenance, and Dr. Ofer Shoshani, responsible for the afternoon center. 

In addition, Steering Committee members are representatives of the technical administrative sector, students and representatives of WIZO.

The Steering Committee deliberates on various issues, including admission criteria to the daycare center, dates and registration planning, the daycare center’s educational program, standardization, tuition fees and current pedagogical issues.

When is it feasible and necessary to contact the committee?

As a general rule, prior to contacting the Steering Committee, qualified professionals and administrative bodies should first be consulted.

For pedagogical matters and day-to-day management, please contact the kindergarten teachers and/or the directors of the Siem kindergarten and Anikster preschool. For registration issues, please contact Liat Taub Mishan, from the wellbing department.

The Steering Committee can be contacted with any issue that has not been addressed by qualified professionals and administrative bodies, including special requests regarding kindergarten registration and admission, pedagogical matters, recommendations to improve the centers’ operations, or dissatisfaction with its operations.
 

The pedagogical team consists of volunteers from the parents of children in the kindergartens, across all sectors of the Institute.

The purpose of the team is to raise awareness and promote various issues and initiatives on content, enrichment and special projects.

In each class, several parents volunteer for the Parent Committee.

The committee is responsible for building a budget together with the kindergarten teacher/class leader for various class activities and requirements and assists the staff in organizing a variety of activities, as and when needed.
