Research in our department centers around molecular mechanisms that control different aspects of cell biology during development and disease states. Large part of the research focuses on cancer heterogeneity at both genomics, proteomics, and the cancer microbiome. We bring unique and innovative research approaches that shed light on organ function in vivo, such as heart, liver, pancreas, gut, and the nervous system. Studies at the department explore diverse cell biology topics including cell-cell communication, cytoskeletal organization; intracellular signaling; senescence, differentiation; physiology and metabolism.
