Toxin–antitoxin (TA)

Toxin–antitoxin (TA) loci are diverse and widespread in prokaryotic chromosomes.  However little is known about their role in bacterial biofilm development. The aim of my project is to (1) characterize the role of programmed cell death in the patterning of  Bacillus subtilis bacterial biofilms,(2) to find novel TA systems important for biofilm structures and understand their role and mode of action
