YWS-2022

We are proud to conclude our second cycle of The "Young Weizmann Scholars - Excellence and Diversity" led by the WIS Diversity and Inclusion Office. The program came to an end with an impressive event today at the Weizmann Institute's Koffler Accelerator. 21 students participated in this year’s program, all members of underrepresented groups in Academia and specifically in science, as we believe diverse science is excellent science.

The program opens a gate for outstanding students who are in the middle of their undergraduate studies. During this summer program, they participated in workshops to strengthen their skills ahead of their academic journeys, such as public speaking and presentation skills. The students also received a unique opportunity to join Weizmann Institute of Science labs and research groups, experience how science is done here alongside our top scientists, and conduct their own scientific projects, which they presented today at a gala event attended by Prof. Gilad Perez, Dean of Feinberg Graduate School and Dr. Meytal Jona, head of Diversity and Inclusion Unit on campus, Gili Vainer, Manager and Academic Secretary of Feinberg Graduate School and the steering committee: Prof. Michal Sharon, Dr. Ulyana Shimanovich, Prof. Dan Oron and Dr. Amir Abboud.

Scientists

Diversity and Unconcious Bias Training

As part of the effort to ensure equal opportunity for all students at the institute, the scientists at the Weizmann Institute of Science undergo preparatory workshops for screening processes focused on diversity and unconscious bias. The workshops are intended for anyone who takes part in the screening and admission of graduate students. Their goal is to produce professional and bias-free screening processes and enable candidates from a variety of diverse groups to integrate as students at the institute and succeed in their studies.
