Policies & Training
General policies
- No food or beverages are permitted near the spectrometers or workstations.
- No sample preparation in the MRI Lab.
- All users must follow the scheduling restrictions of the MRI lab and register in advance.
- Do not change any MRI probes/coils/configuration or reconnect any RF cables.
Facility Schedule (maintenance)
Liquid helium fills normally render the instruments unstable for a few hours. Fills generally occur once in a few months.
A guide for new MRI Users
Our MRI scanners are normally operated in two ways:
- By trained users: scanners are accessible to anyone who has been trained on their use by the MR lab staff, performing work for their own research groups. Each authorized-user account is given a special permission for scheduling time on the instruments (via Internal Services) as well as a userid for login to the instruments.
- As a service: MRI service is provided for both WIS staff (Internal MRI Services) as well as for external users (External MRI Services).
