Safety
There are very few specific safety instructions for working in the lab other than use of sound and accepted laboratory practice, as available at Safety Services at the WIS.
Please keep in mind that most of the SPM units incorporate a class II laser that does not require use of safety glasses but the user should avoid looking directly at the beam or at specular reflections. In addition, those using biological samples should dispose of them according to standard procedures using sodium hypochlorite solution. Needles, glass, and sharp objects should be placed in the special containers for that purpose.
