One major goal of this project is to solve the question of “How much detail is enough?” In the educational world, with its limited time and overwhelming amounts of information, elucidating which conceptual ideas are most central for developing a mechanistic understanding in biology and how to teach these ideas are complex but important tasks.
The goal of this project is to characterize how biological mechanisms are presented in the public media and how laypeople understand and evaluate such information.
In this study, we aim to explore how cancer patients, who must manage their symptoms and side effects at home, effectively do so and what information they utilize in the process. We investigate their methods of acquiring knowledge about their disease and examine their reasoning and learning processes
The main goal of this project is to trace and characterize the first steps of biological mechanistic reasoning. We will then build on these first steps to promote mechanistic understanding and mechanistic reasoning.
