Thermal conductance of a one-dimensional channel is a universal integer for all abelian states, being fractional or integer. However, for non-abelian states the thermal conductance is fractional, and thus indicative of the nature of the state (ie., supporting a Majorana quasi-particles). We employ such measurements to identify the nature of states, and in particular, states that support heat-carrying modes.
