Nir Kampf
Nir, a senior staff scientist at the Weizmann Institute of Science's chemistry faculty, has a deep passion for music. His musical journey began at the young age of eight when he played the French horn in the Tel Aviv Youth Orchestra, continuing later with their alumni group.
In 2019, Nir joined the Weizmann Orchestra, which was then a small ensemble with fewer than ten members. He also enjoys playing the acoustic guitar as a hobby.
Nir believes that science and music, seemingly opposite forces, are interconnected in a harmonious way. He finds the process of scientific discovery as exciting as being part of the music.
Yael Yair
Yael has played the French horn for over 20 years. She is 35 yo from Tel Aviv and joined the orchestra last year when she started her post-doctoral research at the Department of Molecular Genetics. Yael is passionate about science, music, nature and going on adventures around the world, and hopes she can combine all 4!
Alon Glazer
Alon is the oldest of four French Horn-playing siblings. He generally enjoys playing lower notes more, but is willing to hit the high ones if the orchestra really needs it. When he's not in the orchestra, you can generally find Alon taming wild computers or at home with his wife, a Postdoctoral researcher in Astrophysics, and family. Late at night, you might even find him walking around campus with a stroller trying to put a baby to sleep.
