Promoting gender equality in physics: Barriers and opportunities
On October 2019, a workshop we held at Weizmann Institute on “Promoting gender equality in physics: Barriers and opportunities”. The workshop enabled a common learning space to physicists, sociologists and gender experts, and practitioners promoting gender diversity in physics in universities and research institutes around the world. The main goal of the workshop was sharing the knowledge and experience that has been gained around the world in enhancing the integration of female physicists in the academy as part of improving gender balance and diversity in math-intensive disciplines.
One of the workshop outputs was a policy brief with recommendations based on the participants’ experience and knowledge in the field.
