WG4 - Dissemination and Knowledge Transfer

WG4 has the aim to promote cross-activities and stimulating exchange of knowledge among the fields of research which are represented by the first three working groups (WG1: Gauge/Gravity duality, WG2: String Phenomenology, WG3: Cosmology and Quantum Gravity).
WG4 coordinates the organization of the annual Workshops, two Training Schools, joint seminars and training courses for ESR's. Moreover, it will be responsible for advertising collectively on a dedicated page a list of planned scientific events related to the Action and involving Action teams.
WG4 also especially devoted to the organization of STSM's, launching the calls, selecting the best candidates through its core group and also actively identifying potential recipients for the promotion of knowledge exchange.
WG4 is composed by about 15 members representing most of the participating Nations for the Action. The core is composed by A. Ceresole (leader), E. Kiritsis (vice leader), Ruth Gregory and Dieter Lust. The Leader of WG4 will function as STSM manager within the CG and MC. She will prepare the annual plan to be submitted to the MC.

Challenges to Quantum Field Theory in HIgher Dimensions

EventChallenges to Quantum Field Theory in HIgher DimensionsLocation Technion Haifa, Israel June 28, 2015 - July 02, 2015 Conformal field theories in 5 and 6 dimensions cannot be formulated directly in terms of a Lagrangian, and must be studied indirectly by other means. In both cases the theories are defined as UV limits of five- dimensional (non-conformal) gauge theories. Non-perturbative tools developed in recent years for supersymmetric gauge theories have been extremely useful in elucidating some of the properties of these CFT’s. In parallel, there have been several interesting developments on their supergravity description. The purpose of the proposed workshop is to bring together researchers working on 5d and 6d quantum field theories and AdS/CFT, to share their ideas both on the study of the higher-dimensional conformal field theories, and on the search for the corresponding higher-dimensional AdS solutions in supergravity and to expose interested researchers to this rapidly developing subject. It will also continue the long-standing tradition of the annual European Workshop in String Theory and related topics, coinciding with the "XXII European Workshop on String Theory''. The scientific content will reflect the research activities of EU groups participating in the Action, which have been organized in Working Groups. Main subjects will cover gauge/gravity correspondence (fundaments and applications), string phenomenology and black holes, quantum gravity and quantum information. The Conference will provide an overview on the main recent developments in these subjects together with the main results, achievements and innovative mathematical tools that have been developed in the four-year duration of the Action.
