Young Weizmann Scholars

Young Weizmann Scholars is a program at the Weizmann Institute that is designed for undergraduate students in Israeli institutions of higher learning who are studying science. The program was developed to support and develop the interest of undergraduate students in pursuing a career in the sciences and strengthen their curiosity and commitment through real laboratory experiences. Customized Program - Summer 2024

As a participant in the Young Weizmann Scholars program, you will join a research group at the Weizmann Institute of Science. You will have the flexibility to tailor the duration of your participation for a period of up to eight weeks during the summer months of 2024 (July-October), according to your needs.

The start date of your participation in your research group, as well as practical requirements, will be coordinated and agreed upon with the head of the research group.

Continuous participation on the Weizmann Institute of Science campus in Rehovot throughout the agreed-upon period is mandatory.

The program also includes lectures, workshops, laboratory tours, and opportunities to connect with scientists and students from the Weizmann Institute.

Financial Awards for Participants - Summer 2024

Participants in the full eight-week program will receive a payment of 15,000 NIS. For shorter durations, payment will be adjusted accordingly.

Payment is subject to the supervisor's approval and submission of a final project.

Framework - Yearly Program

As a participant in the program, you will be required to join the activities of your research group for at least four hours per week for eight months throughout the academic year, in order to maximize the success and benefits of the program.

Alternatively, the work can be done during the summer months as mentioned above.

In both configurations the exact starting point of your association with the research group as well as what is practically expected of you should be coordinated and agreed upon directly with the Head of the research group.

If you are interested in expanding your scientific activities beyond the minimum required by the program, you are encouraged to do so. The WSoS is happy to try to provide whatever support or assistance is necessary in order to facilitate this kind of participation.

Participants in the program have an official status at the Institute that is equivalent to that of visiting students. As a result, all participants are required to follow the WSoS regulations including the code of ethics, WIS intellectual property guidelines, WIS safety rules, etc..

Financial Awards for Participants - Yearly Program

While the primary and obvious benefit of this program is educational - the privilege of being part of a research group and contributing to scientific research at the Institute -participants in the program also receive a more tangible benefit: A grant of NIS 15,000, received in two equal payments. This money is designed to cover any expenses and to make it easier to participate in the program’s activities.
