Belonging to a Research & Medical School at WSoS
As a student at the Weizmann School of Science, you will be a member of one of six different research schools. These schools aim to provide an extra boost to your immersion into scientific research and clinical education, enabling you to become a contributing member of a research team in your selected discipline.
The Medical School, as part of this structure, offersstudents the opportunity to integrate medical education with scientific discovery.
The key benefits of being part of a research school include offering you greater opportunities for personal development and independent research, providing grants and incentives, giving support for scientific services and information resources, offering travel grants to facilitate expanded contacts with the international research community, and enabling greater exposure to world leaders in your field through student-organized lectures, workshops and conferences. For students in the Medical School, this also include access to clinical training and translational research opportunities, bridging medicine and science.
Each school is headed by a director appointed by the Dean of the Weizmann School of Science, and each director is assisted by a Board of Studies. The Medical School follows a similar structure, led by a Dean and a Senior Associate Dean, ensuring its alignment with the boarder academic and research environment. The director of each school and Dean of the Medical School coordinates all activities in the relevant field of study, including guidelines for academic requirements, courses, student admission, and the evaluation of your progress in both your research and studies. For Medical students, this includes overseeing clinical training, proffesional development, and integration with Weizmann Institude research groups, ensuring a well-rounded physician-scientist education.
