In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been increasingly dominating the decision-making mechanisms which govern the technological systems that surrounding us. Over the next decade, it is estimated that more and more aspects of human-computer interaction will be shaped entirely by AI. In accordance with these developments, AI – and especially its sub-discipline of machine learning – are becoming increasingly prominent within computer science programs. In Israel, the subject of machine learning was recently added to the CS curriculum as an elective unit.
Our research deals with the challenges of training teachers to teach machine learning, and of developing a blended learning program that leverages the abundance of high-quality online learning resources for effective instruction of the subject at the high-school level. In addition to the technological and scientific aspects, this program also explores the societal and ethical perspectives of AI.
